central or peripheral nervous system of the brain and is medically termed <em>hypomyelination<\/em>.\u00a0 the good news is that your puppy can grow out of it and still grow up to live a happy and healthy life.<\/p>\n<p>at birth, often puppies that develop the syndrome are normal.\u00a0 they later develop symptoms at 1 \u2013 2 weeks old.\u00a0 typically they begin to tremor and it\u2019s predominantly more noticeable in the hind legs.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>this tremoring can cause them to miss out out on important feedings from their mother as they are less likely to be able to hold their ground when trying to reach their mother\u2019s nipples.\u00a0 in these cases, they will require hand feeding.<\/p>\n<p><iframe style=\"text-align: center;\">**warning: the chihuahua puppy in this video is okay and in no way being harmed<\/p>\n<p><strong>what causes the shaking?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>when an insufficient production of myelin occurs, the substance that insulates and stabilizes nerves, hypomyelination is the result.\u00a0 a lack of myelin cause the nerves to be sensitive resulting in shakes and tremors.\u00a0 the more active your puppy is, the more they will shake, the less active, the less they will shake.\u00a0 in fact, when they sleep, the shaking often goes away completely.<\/p>\n<p>other known causes can be related to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>low blood sugar levels,<\/li>\n<li>blood birth defects in the vessels of the liver<\/li>\n<li>and immature brain development<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>will your puppy grow out of it?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>it depends.\u00a0 if the syndrome has affected their central nervous system, there is a good chance they will grow out of it within a year.\u00a0 if it has compromised their peripheral nervous system, they usually don\u2019t get better as they mature.\u00a0 symptoms usually appear around 5 to 7 weeks when their peripheral central nervous system is affected.<\/p>\n<p>even though most dogs with the condition grow to have normal lifespans and can participate in most activities that a normal dog would, it is important to recognize that puppies with the condition will likely need help eating.<\/p>\n<p>their constant tremoring makes it difficult for them to stand over their food dish to eat.\u00a0 it is
