chihuahuas are notorious for their bedtime rituals. some like to sleep in their own little beds and some like to sleep on the floor in their owner’s bedroom, but most chihuahuas like to sleep next to their owners in bed all snuggled under the sheets.

teaka the famous chihuahua loved to hog the bed and burrow until she found the perfect spot to park herself for the night.  usually it was right next to mommy, but on occasion she would end up at mommy’s feet, at mommy’s backside and even the other side of the bed sleeping as a person would.  it remains a mystery to this day as to how on earth she was able to breathe under all those sheets, but it sure was funny to hear teaka snore once she fell asleep.

we all have a cute and funny chihuahua names that we have given to our chihuahua that came about to describe something that is unique or characteristic of them.

teaka the famous chihuahua has several humorous and cute nicknames that are descriptive of her unique and quirky personality.  here are some examples:

“mussillu” – a family favorite. pronounced “moo see loo”. italian for “little snout” because her little nose is one of her cutest features. you can see it well in her ‘teaka gets a bath’ video above!

“bella” – italian for “beautiful” because she is beautiful with a shiny and healthy fur coat!

“pupillu” or “puparella” – nana’s favorite. pronounced ‘poo pee loo’ and ‘poo pa rella’. italian for a little doll, like one might make reference to a little child.

“trouble” – teaka can be quite mischievous at times so we might say to her when she enters a room, “oh look. here comes trouble …”

“killer” – a neighborhood favorite. when teaka goes for a walk she likes to let people know she is boss with her ‘big’ bark.

“the mexican” – teaka is actually from mexico so it just makes sense! (no pun intended!).

“mooch” – pretty self explanatory. she just happens to appear whenever you have food.

“little brown” – we call teaka this because she looks like a little racehorse when she runs, just like “big brown”, the horse that won the 2008 kentucky derby.

“little girl” – mommy’s favorite, because that’s exactly what she is, my sweet little girl.

why own a chihuahua? there’s a danger you know,
you can’t own just one, for the craving will grow.
there’s no doubt they’re addictive, wherein lies the danger,
while living with lots, you’ll grow poorer and stranger.

one chihuahua’s no trouble and two are so funny,
the third one is easy; the fourth one’s a honey.
the fifth one is delightful; the sixth one’s a breeze,
you find you can live with a household with ease.

so how ’bout another? would you really dare?
they’re really quite easy but oh lord the hair!
with chihuahuas on the sofa and on the bed,
and crates in the kitchen, it’s no bother you said.

they’re really no trouble; their manners are great,
what’s one more chihuahua and just one more crate?
the sofa is hairy; the windows are crusty,
the floor is all footprints, the furniture all dusty.

the housekeeper suffers, but what do you care?
who minds a few nose prints and a little more hair
so let’s keep a puppy, you can always find room,
and a little more time for the dust cloth and broom.

there’s hardly a limit to the chihuahuas you add,
the thought of a cutback sure makes you sad.
each one is so special, so useful, so funny,
the vet and the food bill grows larger, you owe money.

your folks never visit; few friends come to stay,
except other chihuahua folk, who live the same way?
your lawn has now died, and your shrubs are dead too,
but your weekends are busy; you’re off with your crew.

there’s dog food and vitamins, training and shots,
and entries and travel and motel which cost lots.
is it worth it, you wonder? are you caught in a trap?
then that favorite chihuahua comes and climbs in your lap.

his look says you’re special and you know that you will,
keep all of the critters in spite of the bill.
but winter’s a hassle; the chihuahuas hate it too,
they must have their walks though they’re numb and you’re blue.

late evening is awful, you scream and you shout
at the chihuahuas on the sofa that refuse to go out.
the chihuahuas and the dog show, the travel, the thrills,
the work and the worry, the pressure, the bills.

the whole thing seems worth it, chihuahuas are our life
they’re charming and funny and offset the strife.
your lifestyle has changed – things won’t be the same.
yes, those chihuahuas are addictive and so is the game

the taco bell chihuahua and a few of his canine stars took a trip to tijuana. they went to a doggy bar and got a bit drunk. as they crossed back into the united states, the border guard stopped them…

“nationality?” he said to lassie.
“aamerrricannn,” slurred lassie.
the border guard waved lassie through.

the guard asked each of the other three hollywood dog stars the same question and waved them each through. when it was time for the taco bell chihuahua to pass, our little star showed the guard his green card while wobbling from side to side. the guard studied it carefully and asked some questions of the tipsy star.

the border guard was still suspicious so he said, “i’ll let you pass if you can use three words in a sentence.”
“no problem, senor.” our little star replied.
“okay, use green, pink, and yellow in a sentence.”

the taco bell chihuahua thought for a moment then said, “the phone, it goes green, green, green, i pink it up, and say yellow!”
