Here we have it, straight from Piff The Magic Dragon himself, the emotional instagram post he made on November 14th, announcing the passing of his beloved Mr. Piffles:

“It’s with the heaviest of hearts I have to announce that Mr Piffles, Las Vegas headliner, beloved canine conjuror and faithful companion, has passed away just shy of his 17th birthday.

For over fifteen years I’ve had the privilege and the pleasure of being upstaged and outshone night after night by that little ball of fluffy indifference. He came into my life when I had nothing, and set me on the path to a career I could only dream of. In the beginning, I may have rescued him, but in the end, he rescued me.

I love you so much Mr Piffles. #RIPiffles”

Over the years, dressed in the most adorable dog apparel, America’s Got Talent fans fell in love with Piff the Magic Dragon’s magic act, which included Mr. Piffles and won over the hearts of many. Their act was then showcased at the prestigious Flamingo Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip.

While we mourn the loss of dear Mr. Piffles, we can now look forward to the Las Vegas debut of the newly cloned Mr Piffles 2, thus the legacy of the incredible Mr. Piffles shall go on!

The 61 year old actress attended the French film festival where her new film, The Substance, was spotlighted. The last time Moore walked the red carpet was in 1997 for the film Ghost, but for this appearance, the Ghost actress was adamant in bringing her adorable tan and white long-haired chihuahua Pilaf along for the trip. Pilaf was more than happy to put on a smiling furry face, and let her tongue hang out in true chihuahua fashion.

“She is a treasure, she is my little extra heart,” Moore told  Stephen Colbert during an appearance on his show back in February where she referred to Pilaf – who weighs a mere pound and a half – as her “teeny, tiny companion”.

The Hollywood star also told Colbert that she thought Pilaf might even be a Guinness World Record holder for the smallest dog because she is the size of a guinea pig!

last friday, actress reese witherspoon announced on her instagram page that sadly, her beloved co-pet star, bruiser, from the movie legally blonde, had passed away at 18 years of age.

“with a sad heart, i have to let all the #legallyblonde fans know that bruiser woods (also known as moonie) passed away yesterday. he was a sweet little chihuahua who was very loved. i will never forget all the days we spent together … i’m sure his tail is wagging in the sky. sending love to his trainer, the wonderful @tailsticks #RIPBruiser 💔”

moonie was a rescue chihuahua before reaching fame and landing the movie legally blonde, in which he can frequently be seen wearing adorable dog necklaces and even his own designer pink bruiser sweater.  in fact, you can find an entire bruiser’s line of chihuahua clothing at the famous chihuahua store where brusier’s character is featured on the homepage.

after appearing in legally blonde, moonie gained a huge fan base and later appeared in the legally blonde 2 sequel, where his role was spotlighted as elle woods (reese’s character) fought for a bill to be passed in washington, dc. that banned animal testing called none other than, bruiser’s bill.

moonie’s fame from legally blonde even took him to the unveiling of reese witherspoon’s star on the hollywood walk of fame in 2010!

in loving memory of moonie and as a tribute to his trainer sue chip and the amazing job she did training moonie, let us recall the poem rainbow bridge.

most of us would be excited to see our best friend in a movie, but lynnie bunten has mixed feelings about beverly hills chihuahua.

“i’m looking forward to the movie, but I’m not looking forward to the result,” says bunten, head of breed rescue for the chihuahua club of america.

sadly, she speaks from experience. whenever a chihuahua has been featured in entertainment in the past, it’s been followed by a spike in the number given up by people who didn’t realize what they were getting into.

“chihuahuas shouldn’t be mistaken for people or celebrities”

it’s easy to fall in love with movie stars, especially when the stars are perfectly trained by professional handlers like the glitzy darlings in disney’s oct. 3 release.

remember, the dogs are playing roles. the real-life personalities of various breeds might not be what you expect. in the case of chihuahuas, don’t think laid-back lap dog just because they’re small. read the chihuahua breed standard carefully, particularly on temperament.

chihuahuas are feisty, independent and driven, but because they’re little, people treat them differently. that can mean trouble.

to start, says bruce shirky, president of the chihuahua club, people tend to be “grabby” with small dogs. most of us have the sense not to reach out for a strange rottweiler, but it’s hard to resist the desire to hold something cute and tiny.

combine that with the fact that chihuahuas tend to become attached to one individual, meaning they’re not terribly friendly to strangers, and don’t be surprised if your little cutie defends itself vigorously.

their size combined with their assertiveness can get them into trouble with other dogs, too.

“they will challenge every other dog regardless of size. that can be suicidal,” says katie greer, who spent 15 years training chihuahuas in the sport of agility.

early socialization and training are critical to keep potential aggression in check. unfortunately, owners have a tendency to neglect training with small dogs, a big mistake in a breed with the chihuahua’s temperament.

in addition, shirky advises, don’t carry your dog in a purse, which just increases the risk that someone will reach for it and get bitten.

“chihuahuas are famous for being tyrants because people don’t treat them like dogs,” says greer, who lives in balch springs, texas.

their drive and intelligence make them great for agility training, which involves a complex race course over different obstacles, but a problem for many owners. in training, “you have to be smarter than the chihuahua, and you have to convince the chihuahua that it was the chihuahua’s idea. this is not a tiny golden retriever.”

neglect of training may even extend to housebreaking, because a small mess may seem easier to tolerate at first, then fray an owner’s nerves over time. many chihuahuas are given up to rescue for this reason, bunten says.

if “small” makes you think “good for apartments,” be aware that chihuahuas are excellent watchdogs but your neighbors may not appreciate the barking and your carpets might not appreciate the terrier-like love of digging.

chihuahuas aren’t generally recommended for families with small children. along with their size, a soft spot on the top of the head that they’re born with, like human babies, never closes in some adult dogs.

if you’re up to the challenge of a chihuahua, rescue is a great place to start. you’ll be dealing with people who know the breed, and the personality of an adult dog is already clear.

if you want a puppy, shirky advises, buy local so you can make sure it’s being socialized properly from the beginning. the litter should be raised in a high traffic area of the house and have lots of visitors.

and be wary of the description ‘teacup chihuahua.’ there’s no accepted definition of the term. if you get a particularly small pup, they have more health problems and tend to live very shortened lives.

smart, funny and loyal, their fans agree, chihuahuas can be a handful – but that’s what they love about them.

“the world is theirs – they own it, and they allow other people to come into it,” greer says. “they make me laugh when I see them out thinking me.”

Paris Hilton would like to be frozen with her pets when she dies.

The hotel heiress is keen to live forever and has invested a large sum of money in the world’s biggest suspended animation cemetery, Cryonics Institute. She wants her body to be preserved and then brought back to life, along with her favorite pets, including her famous chihuahua Tinkerbell and new mutt, Yorkshire Terrier Cinderella.

‘The Simple Life’ star said, “It’s so cool. Almost all the cells in the body are still alive when death is pronounced. “And if you’re immediately cooled, you can be perfectly preserved. “My life could be extended by hundreds and thousands of years.” Earlier this week, Paris revealed her partying lifestyle left her feeling “empty inside.”

The 26-year-old blond – who spent 23 days in jail for driving offenses in June – is now determined to turn her life around and do worthy things instead of being seen falling out of nightclubs. Paris – who is planning a visit to Rwanda – said, “Before, my life was about having fun, going to parties – it was a fantasy. But when I had time to reflect, I felt empty inside. I want to leave a mark on the world.”

Shouldn’t you make sure you die young and pretty if you’re going to go the cryonically frozen route? Who wants to die at 80 then be revived later to still look 80 years old? What is the point of that? On the other hand, plastic surgery procedures are sure to have improved quite a bit in 100 years, so maybe you can be 80 — but look 20. It could happen.
