All the symptoms you listed could be the result of being dramatized by all the changes and being on meds. Keep a close eye on her and show her as much as love as you can. In time she will become more comfortable and healthy. If things do worsen, call your vet.

I adopted a Chi/terrier mix from the SPCA..Many problems to start. They said she was 2yr old but vet says shes more likey 6yrs old. She went for spaying 7 days ago, they kept her for 4 days after surgery cuz she developed kennel cough. I brought her home for the 1st time- she has/had bloody diahrea that was tested negative for parasites and parvo, now she hasnt had a bowel movement in 3 days- drinks very little and will only eat 2-3 teaspoons of food a day (scrambled eggs or beef w rice) She sleeps 20-22 hours a day and not active. They dont know whats wrong with her and ive nvr had a chi before. She is sweet loving dog and I am so sad for her. She still has her stitches and is on antibiotic for cough and another for a possible intestine infection- they said maybe she needs xrays and surgery. THey have no history to give me on this dog and its costing much $$$. I love her, I want her well and happy but if she is going to suffer I cant bear to watch it. Please anyone have any idea what is going on- SPCA is clueless

I was told the same thing by a vet that wanted us to give our Chi (now 4 years old) a 700.00 MRI before doing much less expensive and common tests.

We’ve started feeding him wet food once a day and paying more attention to how often he eats, suspecting his blood sugar was the culprit. It’s been a month of doing this, and occasionally stirring some Corn Syrup into his water and the seizures have stopped.

Track your chi’s eating habits for a few weeks, track any seizure like occurances and get a second, or third opinion!

There ARE meds to control seizures too, Sodium Bromide is one.

I hope she gets well. Have you called or seen any other Vet’s? Thats what I would do to get some more oppinions…. You may be able to get meds to help prevent the seizures just like humans do. Good Luck!
